Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Christchurch (D)

Welcome to New Zealand! On arrival you will be met at the airport by your Scenic Tours Representative and transferred* to your luxury hotel. Tonight meet your Tour Director for a the welcome briefing followed by dinner.

Day 2: Christchurch – Franz Josef (FB,D)

Included in today’s touring is an unforgettable journey through the magnificent Southern Alps on the TranzAlpine railway. Disembark at Arthur’s Pass and continue to Hokitika and then stop to view awesome Franz Josef Glacier, a stunning landscape hewn by ice and a living remnant of the last Ice Age. Tonight settle into your accommodation in the charming little village of Franz Josef at the luxurious Te Waonui Forest Retreat. This lodge style hotel has been built to respect and preserve the surrounding rainforest and is at the cutting edge of sustainable, luxury accommodation. This evening enjoy dinner at the Retreat.

Day 3: Franz Josef – Queenstown (FB)

A highlight today is your Included exhilarating jet boat ride on the mighty Haast River in Mount Aspiring National Park. Included is a stop to view picturesque Lake Wanaka before continuing to Queenstown.

Day 4: Queenstown (FB,HD)

Today is an Included SCENIC FREE CHOICE activitychoose from: (1) a tour of local country gardens followed by morning tea; or (2) enjoy a guided tour of local wineries with lunch; or (3) take an exhilarating ride through Shotover Canyon in a jet boat; or (4) see the scenery of the Southern Lakes region on a 4WD tour; or (5) enjoy a scenic guided tour to historic Skippers Canyon; or (6) relax onboard the legendary Million Dollar Cruise; or (7) an indulgent therapeutic massage or foot revitalisation. Tonight is an Included SCENIC FREE CHOICE Dining evening choose from: (1) a cruise on Lake Wakatipu onboard the TSS Earnslaw historic steamship, then dine at Walter Peak Station; or (2) ride the gondola to Skyline Restaurant and dine overlooking Queenstown; or (3) enjoy a relaxing gourmet dinner at Lombardi’s Restaurant; or (4) dine at the Threesixty Restaurant.

Day 5: Queenstown (FB)

Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Southern Alps, Queenstown is recognised as New Zealand’s premier visitor destination. Today you have the chance to explore Queenstown at your own pace.

Day 6: Queenstown – Te Anau (FB,D)

Enjoy the beauty of the Fiordland National Park. Included today is an unforgettable cruise on Milford Sound, the most accessible of Fiordland’s magnificent glacier-carved fiords. Tonight stay in the village of Te Anau at your quaint hotel, where you will enjoy dinner.

Unique, Boutique & Luxury – Stay overnight on spectacular Milford Sound onboard the Milford Mariner (additional expense).

Day 7: Te Anau – Dunedin (FB,D)

Enjoy an Included cruise across the lake to the underground world of rushing water and the luminous shimmer of thousands of glowworms at Te Anau Glowworm Caves. Continue to Dunedin, a university city of Scottish heritage and New Zealand’s oldest city.

Overnight Stay: Dunedin

Opportunity to experience the warmth and hospitality of a local family during an overnight Home Stay (must be pre-booked).

Day 8: Dunedin – Lake Tekapo (FB,D)

Included this morning is a city sights tour before heading north, stopping at the famous Moeraki Boulders. Continue north to view Mount Cook (weather permitting) before arriving at our hotel with views over Lake Tekapo.

Day 9: Lake Tekapo – Christchurch (FB,HD)

This morning Included is your visit to the Church of the Good Shepherd, situated on Lake Tekapo’s edge. Continue to Christchurch. Tonight’s SCENIC ENRICH highlight event begins aboard the historic Christchurch tram for drinks and canapés, then continue to Octagon Restaurant for a farewell dinner.

Day 10: Christchurch (FB)

Included SCENIC FREE CHOICE activity choose from: (1) a punting trip which glides you along the Avon River; or (2) a guided city bicycle tour; or (3) a historic tram sightseeing pass; or (4) visit the Antarctic Centre; or (5) take a guided tour of the city’s botanical gardens onboard the Caterpillar electric shuttle. Your tour ends this afternoon when you are transferred* to the airport for your flight home (flight not included – please book flights after 2pm).
