Itinerary
Day 1 — Montreal
Welcome to Cosmopolitan Montreal. Transfer from the airport or downtown to your hotel. Overnight Montreal.
Day 2 — Montreal
Spend the day exploring magnificent Montreal. Visit the Old Port, a 2.5-km-long recreational and tourist park offering a variety of outdoor activities including cruises, exhibitions, entertainment and the Montreal Science Centre. View the Gothic Revival architecture of Notre-Dame Basilica, Christ Church Cathedral and shop at Place Ville Marie. Overnight Montreal.
Day 3 — Montreal / VIA Rail / Quebec City / VIA Rail / Montreal
Transfer to Central Station to board VIA Rail’s VIA 1 service to Quebec City. A day to explore the charming Old City with slant-roofed granite houses, narrow lanes, churches, monuments, and parks. Its historic fortified walls, the continent’s only ones north of Mexico, have earned Quebec City a UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. Ninety-five percent of Quebecois speak French, and they blend a sophisticated sensibility with a hearty frontier attitude. A city orientation tour is included. Breakfast and Dinner included. Day 4 — Montreal / VIA Rail
Enjoy the day exploring Montreal on your own. Transfer to Central Station to depart aboard VIA Rail’s Ocean in Easterly class sleeping car accommodations carries you eastward. VIA Rail’s Ocean, which features VIA’s Renaissance Cars with new European style service and comfort. Dinner included.
Day 5 — VIA Rail / Halifax
Spend the day aboard the train with service and comfort, as you pass through the enchanting towns, villages and glorious countryside of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Breakfast included. Overnight Halifax.
Day 6 — Halifax / Atlantic Tours / Digby
This morning, meet your fellow travelers and Tour Director. Discover the rustic charm of the famous fishing village of Peggy’s Cove. Next, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Town of Lunenburg where you have a choice of admission to the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic or a walking tour of this historic community. Travel across country to Digby where you will overnight at Pines Resort overlooking the Bay of Fundy — home of the world’s highest tides. Breakfast & dinner included. Overnight Digby.
Day 7 — Digby / Atlantic Tours / Moncton
Your journey takes you the lush Annapolis Valley and on to Grand Pre where fact and fiction blend to reveal the romance of the land of Evangeline. Continue past the communities of Truro and Amherst as you cross into New Brunswick, to the bilingual city of Moncton. Breakfast included. Overnight Moncton.
Day 8 — Moncton / Charlottetown
Your guided tour continues to Hopewell Rocks where you may walk on the ocean floor at low tide. After lunch, cross to Prince Edward Island on Confederation Bridge, the worlds longest continuous multi-span bridge, and enjoy a delicious lobster supper (meat alternative available) before checking in to your Charlottetown accommodations for the next two nights. Breakfast & Dinner included. Overnight Charlottetown.
Day 9 — Prince Edward Island touring
Enjoy a free morning in Charlottetown. (If you prefer not to join us on this afternoon tour, enjoy a free day at leisure or perhaps play a local golf course.) Your included afternoon tour begins with a tour of Charlottetown, Canada’s Birthplace, then visiting the red sandstone cliffs, white beaches, gently sloping sand dunes and green fields of Prince Edward Island National Park. Lucy Maud Montgomery describes the scenery in her “Anne of Green Gables” books. Visit the home of “Green Gables” a Mecca for people from around the globe. Breakfast & lunch. Arrivals in June, July, August and September (where schedule permits) enjoy a bonus… this evening attend the musical “Anne” at the Charlottetown Festival (Included). Otherwise enjoy local entertainment and a dinner at the Mariner’s Feast. Overnight Charlottetown.
Day 10 — Charlottetown / Halifax
Ferry to Nova Scotia, where you will bid good bye to your fellow travelers in New Glasgow. Return to Halifax on scheduled transportation where tour arrangements end approximately 3 pm. Breakfast included.
Please note: guests traveling on early morning flights may be dropped off at the Hilton Garden Inn — Halifax Airport. Please request this option at time of booking. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to the airport.
