| Day 2 Hanoi Full day city tour (small group) |
The tour is split into a morning and afternoon schedule, with a delicious lunch at one of Hanoi’s restaurants in between. The sights include visiting Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Presidential Palace; the Temples of Literature; Museum of Ethnology and a Cyclo tour around Hanoi’s old quarter. Also known as the 36 streets, this bustling area of narrow streets is home to literally thousands of small businesses and shopkeepers. Originally each of the 36 streets names’ was related to the products being sold there. This is an exciting way to see the old quarter.
Drive to Halong bay, 3-4 hours from Hanoi to begin an overnight cruise on a traditional junk. Upon arrival at Ha Long Bay (approx. 12 midday) we will board a superior Junk and have the chance to explore some of the limestone caves dotted around the bay. Then our captain will find a secluded spot for swimming and sun bathing before dinner. Enjoy a seafood feast for dinner and for the night owls, there is an option of night fishing.
Rising to the lapping waters of the bay we have time for an early morning dip followed by breakfast. This morning we continue to cruise around the bay to find more secluded areas to swim or you may relax on deck with a book. At midday we will return to the main harbor before transferring to our awaiting vehicle for a 3-hour journey back to Hanoi.
We leave Hanoi at 8am for the scenic drive to Mai Chau. Located 4 hours from Hanoi, Mai chau is an authentic hill tribe region and a fantastic base for treks and homestay adventures. However, you will be staying in the only hotel in the area ‘Mai Chau Lodge’ which is a boutique 16 room lodge. After check in, you will be served lunch and briefed on the optional activities. You may relax by the pool/ spa/ sauna and enjoy the mountain backdrop or go on a trek or cycle ride. A fabulous dinner is served at 7pm, accompanied by a traditional dance performance by the local Thai tribe.
After breakfast there is an optional a cycling tour or walk through the beautiful valley of Mai Chau. You will meet the local hill tribes going about their daily routines such as planting rice, herding buffalos or building traditional houses. Lunch is served after check out. We then leave for Hanoi, returning to your hotel at approximately 4pm.
Transfer to airport for flight out Viet Nam. End of services.
