Itinerary

Day 1 MuscatOn arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for lunch. This afternoon take an escorted sightseeing tour of Muscat, taking in the Sultan’s Palace flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts of Jalali and Mirani, the old town with its galleries and museums in the Old Quarter and the Old Souq of Muttrah with its sights, sounds and aroma, for some shopping. Dinner will be taken at a local restaurant. Overnight: Al Falaj Hotel.
Day 2 Muscat – Al Hoota Caves – Jebel Shams – NizwaAfter breakfast travel via Fanjah in a 4X4 Landcruiser vehicle for a glimpse of an ancient and abandoned village enroute to Nizwa, the ancient capital of Oman. Continue on to the geological wonders at Al Hoota Cave, a beautiful formation of stalactites and stalagmites. After lunch at a local restaurant, drive to Wadi Ghul and to Wadi-Nakhr. Continue on to the “Grand Canyon” of Oman near Jebel Shams, the highest altitude in Oman. On the way back to Nizwa, stop at Misfat Al Abrein, a picturesque village strapped to the side of a mountain, where time has come to a standstill. On arrival in Nizwa, after dinner at the hotel, you are free to stroll through town, a bustling centre for crafts and the best silver souq in Oman. Overnight: Golden Tulip Nizwa Hotel.
Day 3 Nizwa – WahibaAfter breakfast, drive to the thriving oasis of Mudharid before heading to the golden sands of the Wahiba. After lunch at a local restaurant visit some Bedouin settlements and experience their lifestyle and hospitality. Later in the day check in to the Safari Desert Camp and indulge in some dune bashing. Overnight: Safari Desert Camp.
Day 4 Wahiba – Wadi Bani Khalid – MuscatAfter breakfast take a short camel ride, before heading into the mountains looking for that long lost “Shangri-La”, Wadi Bani Khalid. Here there is an oasis of clear running waters and verdant plant life, a veritable heaven on earth, where you can swim and take a picnic lunch. Later head back to Muscat via Ibra and Al Manfah, an old abandoned mercantile village. Overnight: Al Falaj Hotel.
Day 5 DepartureAfter breakfast, transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
