Day 1. Arles, Embark

Join the tour on arrival in Arles and transfer to ship

Day 2. Arles, Freedom of Choice Touring, Avignon

From Arles this morning, perhaps visit the village Les Baux. Or you may like to take a walking tour – In the Steps of Van Gogh, which will take you around Arles and show you the locales and vistas that inspired the famous artist. Alternatively, take a Roman walking tour and discover why Arles is noted for its Roman and Romanesque heritage.

Day 3. Avignon, Freedom of Choice Touring, Viviers

Today in Avignon, choose from our Freedom of Choice Touring options. Perhaps take a tour to the Papal Palace, which served as a fortress, a church and a residence to the Popes that once governed the Christian world. Alternatively, embark on an excursion to the historically intriguing commune of Uzès. After dinner on board, in the largely abandoned town of Viviers this evening, enjoy a ‘ghost walk’.

Day 4. Viviers – Tournon

After breakfast, enjoy an excursion to Grignan, a hilltop village dominated by a majestic castle. The ship sails for Tournon during lunch and arrives in the early evening. Here, enjoy a wine tasting.

Day 5. Tournon – Vienne, Freedom of Choice Touring

Enjoy a choice of gourmet activities in Tournon today. Savour regional cheese during a tasting experience, or indulge in locally-made chocolates. Enjoy lunch back on board the ship as you cruise to Vienne this afternoon. Situated between the wine regions of Burgundy and Beaujolais, Vienne has a significant Roman history.

Day 6. Vienne – Trévoux, Freedom of Choice Touring

Take a mini train-ride and see the first-century Roman Temple of Augustus, and the medieval churches of St Andre-Le-Bas and Abbey St Pierre, before we cruise to Trévoux. Enjoy a walking tour or bike ride here.

Day 7. Trévoux – Lyon

Your tour today takes you through Beaujolais. Enjoy a visit to a local wine maker and sample the famous Beaujolais Nouveau. Here, discover the art of French cuisine during a fascinating cookery demonstration.

Day 8. Disembark, Lyon, Basel, Embark

On arrival in the city of Speyer today, you’ll disembark for a brief tour, including a visit to the Technik Museum Speyer, Europe’s largest private technology museum.
