| Day 1 | Arrive Buenos AiresArrive into the ‘Paris of the Americas’ to a private A&K welcome. Settle into your luxury hotel before an introduction to the city. Visit the old port district of La Boca and drive through the leafy streets of Palermo’s grand residences. You’ve also time to wander through the famous Recoleta cemetery. | Day 2 | Design Your Day Buenos AiresA chance to see what makes this sophisticated metropolis tick. Choose two of the following four half day activities: Start the day in traditional Porteno style with coffee and a pastry at Tortoni, one of the city’s true icons then a short ride on ‘el Subte’ (the subway) to the Plaza de Mayo, the city’s historical and political heart. Wander past the Casa Rosada (Presidential Palace), the city hall and the cathedral and on further to the narrow cobbled streets of bohemian San Telmo. Or tour the city’s finest galleries and museums including MALBA and Isaac Fernando Blanco Museum of Spanish-American Art. Or comb the city’s boutique and specialty stores with your own personal shopper. Or join world famous tango dancers in their grand residence for a lesson in the seductive art. | Day 3 | Buenos Aires – CalafateA three hour *flight to El Calafate in the far south of the country. This is the stepping off point for adventure in the remote Patagonian wilderness. | Day 4 – 5 | PatagoniaThe days are yours to explore the remarkable landscape of Los Glaciares National Park. Included is a full day trip to the Perito Moreno glacier with picnic lunch. | Day 7 | Buenos Aires-Iguazu FallsA *flight north to the spectacular Iguazu Falls, an easy walk from your hotel. In the afternoon you are escorted to the Brazilian side in the World Heritage listed Iguassu National Park. | Day 8 | Iguazu Falls-Buenos AiresThe day is spent on the Argentine side of the Falls where travellers get close up to the thundering torrent of water plunging over the steep cliffs. Walk through the jungle over and under the torrents of falling water to a catwalk for dramatic views. Beautiful flowers, ferns, tropical plants, butterflies and exotic birds add to this exciting experience. A short boat trip takes you to the pathways which lead to the Devil’s Gorge, one of the more impressive falls. Transfer to the *airport for the return flight to Buenos Aires where you are accompanied to the international airport for onward departure. |
