| Day 2 | MuscatToday enjoy a morning city sightseeing of the enchanting port city of Muscat, beginning with the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, a religious landmark and splendid example of Islamic architecture. Visit Bait Al Zubair, formerly a private home and now a showcase for traditional Omani crafts and culture and the prestigious Bait Muzna gallery. The remainder of the day is at leisure. | Day 3 | Muscat-Sur-Ras Al JinzDrive southeastward along the stunning coast dotted with white beaches and coves of turquoise waters. En route wind your way through the mountains to visit Wadi Arbayeen. After a picnic lunch, continue the journey to Sur, a coastal town where traditional Arabian ocean-going dhows are still built in the traditional manner, before continuing on to Ras Al Jinz. This evening visit the nearby turtle nesting area at Ras Al Jinz, where, in the company of a ranger, you can watch the sea turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs. Ras Al Jinz Scientific Centre |
| Day 4 | Ras Al Jinz-Wahiba SandsThis morning return to Sur and visit the dhow yards to observe the construction of these traditional Arabic vessels. Enjoy lunch before departing for the Wahiba Sands. As you enter the Wahiba Sands, stop to visit the local Bedouins, and enjoy a cup of traditional Arabic coffee, the welcome drink of the Middle East. | Day 5 | Wahiba Sands – Jebel Shams – NizwaToday travel to the rugged interior and Jebel Shams, the highest mountain of the Jebel Al Akhdar range at over 3000m. The gravel road leading to Jebel Shams traverses some spectacular scenery. From the top, it is an almost vertical drop to the wadi floor 1000m below. In Al Hamra, stroll through a date farm and observe old falaj irrigation systems still in use today. After lunch at the Bait Al Safa Museum continue to Nizwa, the former capital of Oman. | Day 6 | Nizwa – Al Bahla – Jabrin – MuscatBegin the day exploring spectacular Nizwa fort, constructed by Sultan bin Saif in 1660. Visit the souk renowned for its silver, brass and copper craftsmanship. Returning to Muscat visit the village of Bahla en route, known for its pottery making and indigo dyeing and Jabrin Castle. Your Oman adventure ends with a transfer to the airport |
