ITINERARY

Broom to broom

Day One: Leaving Broome behind we make our way to Derby, the site of the largest tidal variance in Australia. Learn of Derby’s role in World War 2 and take a brief stop at the 1500 year old boab prison tree. Tonight we settle in close to the mighty Fitzroy River. (Ensuited Safari Tents)

Day Two: This morning we will explore the little known Mimbi Caves. This spectacular cave system was formed in the ancient Devonian Reef system. This afternoon we make our way to Mabel Downs Station, our home for 2 nights. (Bungle Bungle Station Stay – Ensuited Safari Tents)

Day Three: We spend the full day in the World Heritage Listed Purnululu National Park, home of the Bungle Bungle. Cathedral Gorge, Piccaninny Creek and Echidna Chasm. (Bungle Bungle Station Stay – Ensuited Safari Tents)

Day Four: Today it’s onto Kununurra, the youngest town in WA. this afternoon we will take a cruise along the entire length of Lake Kununurra, including afternoon tea on the banks of the mighty Ord River. (Ivanhoe Village – Ensuited Cabins)

Day Five:Today is a free day in Kununurra. You have the opportunity to wander the town, visiting the art galleries and diamond stores. Or you may choose to add your own adventure – fly to Mitchell Falls, try some Barra fishing, or take a cruise on Lake Argyle and enjoy a swim at sunset. Tours today are at own expense.  Talk to us about the variety of options. (Ivanhoe Village – Ensuited Cabins)

Day Six: One of the oldest towns in Western Australia is Wyndham. Today we will climb to the top of the Bastion Range. From here we will see where the 5 major rivers of the East Kimberley enter the Cambridge Gulf. We then make our way to our camp for two nights – Home Valley Station. (Guest Room – Home Valley Station)

Day Seven: Today we begin our Gibb River Road adventures! We have the opportunity to soak in the warm waters of Zebedee Springs and the icy waters of Emma Gorge, before crossing the iconic Pentecost River as we return to Home Valley. (Guest Room – Home Valley Station)

Day Eight: Today we will hike and swim our way along the Gorges of the Gibb River Road. These are the magical waters of the Kimberley … So do it carefully. (Bell Gorge / Imintji Camp)

Day Nine: Today we can slow down a little, and simply enjoy the stunning beauty of Bell Gorge. Of course, we will enjoy a soak in this beautiful place. (Bell Gorge / Imintji Camp)

Day Ten: We have time today to soak up the beauty of the King Leopold Ranges, often referred to as the most beautiful region of the Gibb River Road. Spend the day exploring, hiking, and swimming, before enjoying a spectacular Kimberley sunset. (Mt Hart Homestead – Ensuited Safari Tent)

Day Eleven: Today we visit the ancient limestone reef, now the Napier Range. Here we see the results of water carving its way throguh the limestone for millions of years, resulting in Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge. (Fitzroy Crossing – Ensuited Safari Tents)

Day Twelve: A relaxing and spectacular cruise on Geikie Gorge begins our day. From here we meander back to Broome, where we check in to our hotel right on Roebuck Bay. Perfectly situated to catch a glimpse of the Stairway to Heaven if we’re lucky. Take a walk around China Town, and maybe buy a pearl to forever remember your wonderful time in the Kimberley. Day Thirteen: Start the day with a walk along Cable Beach. After breakfast we will take a tour of Broome, a town rich in history from its early pearling days and World War 2 involvement. Today Broome is a modern town servicing the vast Kimberley region. Our tour ends at midday, giving you the time to take further optional tours in Broome, or to catch a flight home in the afternoon after an unforgettable Kimberley adventure!
